Gruppensieger wurde Manchester United (17 Punkte) vor den punktgleichen Amiens SC und VfL Osnabrück (jeweils 16 Punkte). Den letzten Qualifikationsplatz für das Achtelfinale sicherte sich Spartak Moskau mit 14 Punkten aufgrund des besseren Torverhältnisses vor dem SV Austria Salzburg. Letzter wurde der FC Porto (7 Punkte). Als zweitstärkste Mannschaft den Aufstieg in die KO-Phase nicht zu schaffen, war natürlich sehr enttäuschend für die Austria. Es war wohl verhängnisvoll, gegen Spartak Moskau zweimal nur Unentschieden zu spielen. Dadurch fehlte der eine Zähler, der zum Weiterkommen gereicht hätte.
In allen 10 CL-Spielen eingesetzt wurden Siegurd Stieglmair, Yeico Del Valle, Pedro Alexandro Pineda Alvarado , César Morante, Daniel Zeman und Ilja Arndt.
Die meisten Tore schossen Stephaen Desmet, Sören Hopfer und Jesper Stiegelmair (alle jeweils 3).
