FK Sarajevo steht für Fudbalski klub Sarajevo. Der Klub, der am 24.10.1946 gegründet wurde, ist der führende Verein aus Sarajevo. Sarajevo ist Hauptstadt und Regierungssitz von Bosnien und Herzegowina, der Föderation Bosnien und Herzegowina (Federacija Bosne i Hercegovine/FBiH), des Kantons Sarajevo sowie de jure der Republika Srpska.
Die Stadt hat in ihren vier Gemeinden Stari Grad (Altstadt), Centar (Zentrum), Novi Grad (Neustadt) und Novo Sarajevo (Neu-Sarajevo) 291.422 Einwohner. In der Agglomeration Sarajevo leben etwa 515.000 und in der Metropolregion Sarajevo 608.354 Einwohner. Sarajevo ist somit die einzige bosnische Metropole.
Drei Ereignisse machten Sarajevo weltweit bekannt: das Attentat von Sarajevo vom 28.06.1914, bei dem Gavrilo Princip den österreichisch-ungarischen Thronfolger Franz Ferdinand ermordete, die Olympischen Winterspiele 1984 und die Belagerung durch Truppen der Vojska Republike Srpske während des Bosnienkrieges 1992 bis 1995.
Bei BMO ist der Verein seit Saison 34 aktiv.
