Die Ligue A ist die höchste Spielklasse des zur Saison 51 neu gegründeten Länderverbunds Westeuropa-Liga. Vorgängerligen waren die Ligue 1 Frankreichs und die Benelux Ehrendivision des Länderverbunds Benelux.
In Saison 51 bestand die Ligue A aus 20 Teams, die jeweils in Hin- und Rückspielen gegeneinander antraten. Ab der Saison 52 bestand die Ligue A nur noch aus 18 Mannschaften. Die Mannschaft mit den meisten Punkten aus allen Spielen wird Westeuropa-Meister.
Aus der Ligue A steigen in Saison 51 die letzten fünf Mannschaften in die Ligue B, die zweithöchste Spielklasse, ab. Ab der Saison 52 steigen nur noch die letzten drei Mannschaften ab.
