Die Ethniki Katigoria ist die höchste Spielklasse im griechischen Fußball.
Sie wurde zur Saison 12 gegründet.
Jeder Verein der Liga tritt in Hin- und Rückspielen gegen jeden anderen Verein der Ethniki Katigoria an. Die Mannschaft mit den meisten Punkten aus allen Spielen wird griechischer Meister. Aus der Ethniki Katigoria steigen die letzten drei Mannschaften in die Ethniki Katigoria 2 ab.
Griechische Meister
Rekordmeister ist somit Panathinaikos Athen, der bislang drei Meisterschaften gewinnen konnte.
Absteiger
Die Mannschaften, die am Ende der Saison auf den Plätzen 16 bis 18 stehen, müssen die Ethniki Katigoria in Richtung Ethniki Katigoria 2 verlassen. Folgende Mannschaften sind bisher abgestiegen:
