FC Dynamo Kiew ist ein Fußballverein aus der ukrainischen Hauptstadt Kiew.
Kiew ist die Hauptstadt und größte Stadt der Ukraine. Sie liegt am bis hierhin für kleinere Seeschiffe befahrbaren Dnepr und hat nahezu 3 Millionen Einwohner. Die Agglomeration umfasst mehr als vier Millionen Einwohner. Kiew gilt als wichtiger Bildungs- und Industriestandort und bildet darüber hinaus den wichtigsten Verkehrsknotenpunkt des Landes. Wegen der vielen Kirchen und Klöster und seiner Bedeutung für die orthodoxe Christenheit wird Kiew seit dem Mittelalter außerdem als Jerusalem des Ostens bezeichnet. Die Sophienkathedrale und das Kiewer Höhlenkloster stehen seit 1990 auf der UNESCO-Liste des Weltkulturerbes. Bedeutsame Straßen sind der Chreschtschatyk, der große Hauptstadtboulevard mit Gebäuden im Stil des sozialistischen Klassizismus und der für sein kulturelles Leben bekannte Andreassteig. Nicht zuletzt durch die Orange Revolution und den Euromaidan wurde der Majdan Nesaleschnosti, der Hauptplatz der Stadt mit dem Hotel Ukrajina und dem Unabhängigkeitsdenkmal der Ukraine, bekannt. Weitere bekannte Denkmale sind das Denkmal der Völkerfreundschaft mit einem monumentalen Bogen von 60 Meter Durchmesser und die Mutter-Heimat-Statue. Letztere ist eine 62 Meter hohe Kolossalstatue zum Gedenken an den Sieg im Großen Vaterländischen Krieg. 27 Denkmäler von Führern aus der Sowjetzeit wurden seit 2009 auf Anweisung der Kiewer Stadtverwaltung im Zuge der Dekommunisierung entfernt.
