Den Afrika-Cup in Nigeria beendete Angola mit dem 3. Platz in der Vorrundengruppe 6. Teamchef Vflerbochumer wurde daraufhin entlassen.

Auch beim Afrika-Cup in Niger kam Angola nicht über einen 3. Platz in der Vorrunde hinaus. Teamchef StepR blieb aber zunächst noch im Amt, wurde dann aber kurz vor der nächsten Afrikameisterschaft doch noch gefeuert.

Afrika-Cup Saison 12
Beim Afrika-Cup in Ägypten gelang den Palancas Negra erstmals der Sprung ins Achtelfinale. Unter dem neuen Teamchef Joernie schloss man die Vorrunde in der Gruppe 7 auf dem zweiten Platz ab. Im Achtelfinale gab es dann aber gegen späteren Finalisten Kamerun nichts zu bestellen.

Afrika-Cup Saison 14
Einen herben Rückschlag gab es für den angolanischen Fußball bei der darauffolgenden Afrikameisterschaft in Burkina Faso. Die Gruppenphase wurde mit einem enttäuschenden 4. Platz abgeschlossen. Teamchef Joernie musste daraufhin gehen.

Afrika-Cup Saison 16
Äußerst unglücklich verlief der Afrika Cup der Saison 16, der erstmals in Angola stattfand. Trotz zweier Siege, darunter ein 3:1 gegen das favorisierte Ghana, musste sich Angola punktgleich mit Ghana und Madagaskar wegen des schlechteren Torverhältnisses mit dem 3. Platz der Vorrunde begnügen und schied deshalb aus. Trotz der Leistungssteigerung wurde Teamchef Ado nach dem Spiel gegen Madagaskar entlassen.
