Limerick FC ist ein Fußballverein aus der irischen Stadt Limerick. Limerick (irisch: Luimneach) ist die Hauptstadt der Grafschaft Limerick in der Provinz Munster im Südwesten der Republik Irland. Die Stadt hat 56.779 Einwohner, mit Vororten sogar über 90Tsd (Stand 2011). Sie ist historisches Zentrum der Region sowie in einigen wirtschaftlichen Bereichen sogar Zentrum für den gesamten Westen Irlands. Der größte Fluss Irlands, der Shannon, durchfließt die Stadt und mündet hinter Limerick als Shannon Estuary in den Atlantik.
In der Realität verweigerte der irische Verband dem Club 2006 die Lizenz für die folgende Spielzeit 2007. Limerick F.C. ging dagegen juristisch vor, eine zwischenzeitlich erwirkte einstweilige Zulassung zum Ligabetrieb wurde jedoch Ende Januar 2007 wieder aufgehoben. Nach einigen Querelen wurde der Verein allerdings unter dem Namen Limerick 37 Football Club (dem offiziellen Gründungsjahr des Ursprungsvereines) neu gegründet und tritt seither in der Airtricity First Division an. Auch bei BMO durfte der Limerick FC in den Saisons 16 bis 20 nicht teilnehmen. Von den Saisons 12 bis 15 sowie seit der Saison 21 ist der Limerick FC aber wieder fester Bestandteil der irischen BMO-Ligen.
