Gastmanager sind Manager eines anderen Vereins, die für den betreuten Verein die Aufgaben eines Managers übernehmen (Zweitverein). Um Interessenkollissionen auszuschließen,
- darf nur ein Verein gastbetreut werden,
- darf der betreute Verein nicht aus demselben Land stammen, in dem der Manager mit seinem Verein aktiv ist
- darf in der Liga des betreuten Vereins kein Verein spielen, zu dem eine Beziehung zum Gastmanager eingetragen ist und
- darf der betreute Verein nicht schon in der Vorsaison von diesem Gastmanager betreut worden sein.
- Diese Beschränkung wurde zur Saison 63 aufgehoben; seitdem können Gastvereine dauerhaft betreut werden (dauerhafter Zweitverein).
Bei einem Klub aus einer 1. Liga endet die Gastbetreuung automatisch nach dem 2. TAT und wird ggf. als Gasttipper fortgeführt. Bei einem unterklassigen Verein läuft die Gastbetreuung bis zum Saisonende, ggf. auch darüber hinaus (vgl. oben, dauerhafter Zweitverein).
Gastmanager wird man durch eine ausdrückliche Bewerbung als Gastmanager und Einstellung als Gastmanager durch einen Adminsistrator. Eine Umgehung durch direkte Bewerbung bei einem Zweitverein, ohne klarzustellen, dass man bereits einen Verein betreut, ist Multiusing.
