Hans Cornelis ist ein belgischer Verteidiger und spielt momentan in der Benelux Ehrendivision beim AZ Alkmaar.
Geboren wurde Cornelis im belgischen Brügge, wo er in der Jugendmannschaft des Clubs das Fußballspielen lernte und zum Profi-Spieler wurde. In Saison 7 entschied er sich dann, sein Heimatland zu verlassen und in Deutschland beim damaligen Zweitligaaufsteiger Kickers Offenbach Fuß zu fassen. Nach insgesamt drei Saisons dort wechselte er zu Beginn der Saison 11 schließlich im Tausch mit Michael Buskermolen nach Alkmaar, wo er noch heute spielt.
In Alkmaar absolvierte Cornelis mehr als 200 Liga-Spiele (Platz 2 der internen Vereinsrangliste), 38 internationale Partien und wurde immer mehr zur verlässlichen Stammkraft. Nach dem Weggang von Theo Zwarthoed ist er seit Saison 18 Kapitän der Mannschaft. Zu seinen größten Erfolgen dürfte sicherlich der Gewinn der Meisterschaft in Saison 17 zählen.
In der Nationalmannschaft kam Cornelis bisher 14 Mal zum Einsatz, dabei gelang ihm ein Tor.
