Als Nachfolger der Trainerlegende Claus-Dieter Wollitz kam der 43-jährige David Anderton an die Salzach. Der Engländer Anderton, zuletzt Meistertrainer mit dem FC Liverpool in Saison 57 war nach einem Jahr Pause wieder bereit für ein Engagement an der Linie. Anderton hatte zudem bereits Erfahrung mit der Liga Alpe-Adria, denn in Saison 56 war er Cheftrainer beim AC Bellinzona und landete mit Tessinern auf dem 11. Platz (SVAS damals Dritter).
Weil Joernie Sören Hopfer zu den Profis hochzog, schien für Ernst Öbster kein Platz mehr im Kader, zumindest konnte er nicht mehr auf allzu viel Einsatzzeit hoffen. Der frühere Kapitän der Amateurmannschaft bat deshalb um Freigabe, die ihm Joernie nur ungern erteilte, auch weil der Klub, der Öbster unter Vertrag nehmen wollte, nicht gerade ein großzügiges Angebot machte (10,16 Mio.). Trotzdem ging Joernie schließlich auf die Offerte ein und ließ das 29-jährige Eigengewächs mit Stärke 9 nach England ziehen, zum FC Sunderland. Im vergangenen Jahr gehörte Öbster mit 12 Ligaeinsätzen klar nicht zur Stammelf, insgesamt kam er auf ??? Einsätze bei den Profis des SVAS.
Die gut 10 Millionen für Öbster investierte Joernie postwendend. Für stolze 18,5 Mio. € verpflichtete Austria Salzburg Bernat González Garcia von Real Madrid. Der allerdings schon 30 Jahre alte spanische Verteidiger kam mit Stärke 11 zu seinem neuen Verein. Auch González Garcia hatte bereits Liga Alpe-Adria-Erfahrung, war er doch in Saison 57 beim FC Sion unter Vertrag. Bei Real Madrid spielte González Garcia anschließend ebenfalls nur ein Jahr (31 Einsätze). Groß geworden war González Garcia bei Real Sociedad San Sebastian. Bei den Basken spielte González Garcia von der Jugend an bis zu seinem 27. Lebensjahr und brachte es bis zum Nationalspieler.

Der Sizilianer Sandro Cois (59/10), eigentlich ein Trainer, der auch die Profis betreuen könnte, kümmerte sich die achte Saison hintereinander um die zweite Mannschaft des SVAS. Er trainierte die B-Elf ???-mal hart, ???-mal mittel und ???-mal leicht. Hinzu kamen ??? Trainingslager (???-mal mittel).

Als Nachfolger von Aki Korrell, dessen Vertrag nach dem erneuten Verfehlen des Saisonziels nicht verlängert worden war, übernahme der 33-jährige Alexander Manninger die Betreuung der Juniorenmannschaft. Manninger, zuletzt arbeitslos und zuvor im Jugendbereich des SC Brühl St. Gallen tätig, wies allerdings nur eine Trainerstärke von 3 auf, was sicher nicht optimal war. Andererseits gab es zu Saisonbeginn auch nur 4 Jugendspieler mit einer höheren Stärke als 3. Manninger trainierte folgendermaßen: 6-mal hart, 3-mal mittel und 0-mal leicht. Hinzu kamen 3 Trainingslager (3-mal mittel).
