UD Merida ist das BMO-Pendant zum realen Verein Mérida Unión Deportiva welcher zur Zeit in der Segunda División B spielt.

Nachdem El Lobo den Verein kurz nach Saisonbeginn übernommen hatte und zuvor heruntergewirtschaftet wurde und kein Zukunftspotential hatte, ging die Arbeit los, mit dem Ausblick 2-3 Saisons in der dritten spanischen Liga das Team umzukrempeln. Die Situation veränderte sich nach der Winterpause jedoch durch den Beschluss zur Abschaffung der Mixligen und somit der Tercera Division, wodurch ein Zwangsaufstieg erfolgte. Merida war eines von 2 Profiteams in der Tercera Division.

Der 17. Platz bedeutete den Abstieg, am grünen Tisch wurde jedoch erreicht, dass der Verein in der Segunda Division bleiben konnte, da es keine niedere Spielklasse in Spanien gibt.

Die Saison 16 Bescherte die erste Teilnahme am Spanischen Pokal, wo jedoch schon in der ersten Runde das Aus gegen Rayo Vallecano zu Buche stand, nachdem diese glücklich durch 1 FTCP das Siegtor machten. Ein markantes Ereignis dieser Saison war die Gründung des Amateurteams. In allen Abteilungen wurde das Saisonziel übertroffen und zum ersten mal stand El Lobo zur Wahl zum Manager der Saison.

Kurioses

Riccardo Domizio wurde in der Saison 16 als 19jähriger mit der Stärke 1 von Torino FC zu 488% (2,4 Millionen) ersteigert. (Rekord)
Sebastian Aeschlimann wurde in der Saison 16 als letzter Jugendspieler BMO-weit von FC Lustenau abgeworben.
