Thomas Butler ist ein irischer Mittelfeldspieler der Stärke 10. Sein reales Vorbild ist ebenfalls Mittelfeldspieler und derzeit bei Swansea City FC unter Vertrag.

Bei BMO begann Butler seine Karriere beim FC Chelsea und machte dort den Abstieg aus der Premier League mit. Zur Saison 10 wechselte Butler dann nach Portugal zum Traditionsverein FC Porto. Dort entwickelte er sich nach einer etwas längeren Anlaufzeit zu einer der Stützen im Mittelfeld, zuerst an der Seite von Sergio Conceicao und Benedikt Weidenfeller, nach deren Abgang dann sogar als Chef im Zentrum. Butler ist zwar nicht besonders torgefährlich, überzeugt aber vor allem durch seine Zuverlässigkeit und seinen unermüdlichen Einsatz als Antreiber.

Über seine starken Leistungen beim FC Porto gelang Butler auch der Sprung in die irische Nationalmannschaft, für die er bislang 7-mal aufgelaufen ist und dabei 2 Tore erzielen konnte.
