Académica de Coimbra ist der älteste noch bestehende Sportverein Portugals. Die Mannschaft wird auch als "A Briosa" bezeichnet, was mit „Die Schneidige“ oder „Die Stolze“ übersetzt werden kann. Der Verein ist in Portugal vor allem für seine Geschichte bekannt, insbesondere für seine studentischen Traditionen, und seine Rolle im Widerstand gegen das Estado Novo-Regime (1932–1974) in Portugal. Bei BMO ist Academica Coimbra seit der Saison 8 mit dabei.

Saison 8
In der ersten Saison nach der Gründung Portugals gelang es Academica Coimbra unter der Leitung von DasDemir gleich auf den 3. Tabellenplatz zu gelangen. Damals standen am Ende der Saison 66 Punkte zu buche, eine Tordifferenz von 98:60 sowie 20 Siege, 6 Unentschieden und 8 Niederlagen, ein nie wieder erreichtes Leistungspensum.
Saison 9
Auch nach der überragenden Leistung in der allerersten Saison hielt sich das Team unter Leitung von DasDemir unter den ersten Teams. Platz 6 mit 62 Punkten, 86:68 Toren und 19 Siegen, 5 Unentschieden sowie 10 Niederlagen waren das Resultat dieser Saison.
Saison 10
Nach dem Managerwechsel war nun philip j fry für das Team verantwortlich und führte es konsequent weiter: Der Abwärtstrend zog sich fort und am Ende reichte es nur zu Platz 8. 49 Punkte durch 16 Siege, 1 Unentschieden und 17 Niederlagen brachte eine Tordifferenz von 82:82 mit sich.
Saison 11
Saison 11 war vom Wechsel der Manager geprägt. Nach philip j fry übernahm Torchman das Amt und wurde schnell von Rapier abgelöst. Dies trug zum weiteren Leistungsabfall bei der mit Platz 10 bestraft wurde. Nur 40 Punkte aus 12 Siegen, 4 Unentschieden und 18 Niederlagen standen am Ende zu buche mit einer Tordifferenz von 71:83.
Saison 12
Nach Rapier folgte Spencer in das Amt des Managers und führte das Team wieder etwas nach oben auf den 8. Tabellenrang. 53 Punkte und 71:71 Tore aus 16 Siegen, 5 Unentschieden und 13 Niederlagen weckten die Hoffnung auf eine Renaissance der Stärke aus den ersten Saisons.
Saison 13
Diese Hoffnung auf eine Renaissance wurden schnell wieder begraben, rutschte man mit Relaxer in Saison 13 doch noch tiefer in RIchtung Liga zwei. Am Ende reichte es dennoch zu Platz 13 mit 45 Punkten und 65:83 Toren. Doch schwere Zeiten prognostizierten sich.
Saison 14
Saison 14 war wohl die bisher schwerste Saison des Traditionsclubs. Eine nahezu aussichtlose finanzielle Situation zwang den Vorstand dazu, sich nach einem neuen Manager umzuschauen. Mit Jin Kazama verpflichtete man einen erfahrenen Manager, der schon den FC Kopenhagen zur Meisterschaft und den ehemaligen Verein TSV 1860 München (jetzt Blau-Weiß München) zum Pokalsieg in Deutschland geführt hatte.
Es war eine Saison, die bis in die letzten Atemzüge spannend war. Am letzten Spieltag sicherte sich das Team mit einem Sieg den 15 Tabellenplatz und damit den Klassenerhalt. Grund für das Zittern bis zum Schluss war Jin Kazamas Vertrauen auf Nachwuchsspieler, was sowohl Sparkurs als auch Nachwuchsförderung in sich vereint.
Saison 15
Auch in Saison 15 arbeitet man wieder mit Jin Kazama zusammen. Diese Saison war am Ende wieder mit dem Klassenerhalt gekrönt. Platz 12, 43 Punkte und 61:85 Tore zeigten einen Aufwärtstrend im Vergleich zu den letzten Saisons und lassen auf mehr hoffen.
