Der Amsterdamsche Football Club Ajax, kurz AFC Ajax und im deutschsprachigen Raum bekannt als Ajax Amsterdam, ist ein Fußballverein aus der niederländischen Stadt Amsterdam.
Amsterdam ist die Hauptstadt und größte Stadt des Königreichs der Niederlande und belegt den 19. Rang der größten Städte der Europäischen Union. Die Gemeinde Amsterdam hat 864.217 Einwohner und als Agglomeration Groot-Amsterdam 1.362.270 Einwohner. Im Großraum Amsterdam, der den nördlichen Teil des niederländischen Verdichtungsraumes Randstad ausmacht, leben etwa 2,4 Millionen Menschen (2012). Auch wenn sich der Regierungssitz des Landes sowie die Königsresidenz im 60 Kilometer entfernten Den Haag befinden, ist Amsterdam seit 1983 gemäß niederländischer Verfassung die Hauptstadt der Niederlande.
Amsterdam liegt in der niederländischen Provinz Nordholland, wo Amstel und IJ direkt hintereinander in das IJsselmeer münden. Der Hafen der Stadt ist durch den Nordseekanal mit der Nordsee verbunden. Amsterdam ist für die vielen Grachten weltberühmt, deren Wasserspiegel heute etwa 40 cm unter dem Meeresspiegel der Nordsee liegt.

Ajax Amsterdam ist eines der Urgesteine des [[BMO-Universum]s: seit der Saison 6 mischt der AFC bei BMO mit. Lange Zeit - von Saison 6 bis 37 und dann wieder von Saison 39 bis 57 - gehörte der Klub der obersten Ligaebene des Benelux-Länderverbunds bzw. der Westeuropa-Liga an. Seit Saison 58 ist Ajax aber nur mehr zweitklassig.
