FC Porto in der Saison 11
Ein Dreikampf bestimmte die Saison 11 der SuperLiga. Der FC Porto, erstmals unter der Leitung von Manager Joernie, musste sich dabei mit dem dritten Platz begnügen (73 Punkte), drei Punkte hinter dem überraschenden Sieger Uniao Leiria und zwei Punkte hinter Vizemeister Maritimo Funchal.
Das war die Stammformation: Luis Abel Fernandes (24 Einsätze) - Ueslei (34), Franco Alves Ferreira (28), Milos Brezinsky (24), Giovanni Pasquale (22), Tokushige (22) - Marc Overmars (34), Nuno Jorge Paulo Duarte (27), Sergio Conceicao (25) - Jurica Vucko (28), Marek Heinz (28).
Die besten Torschützen: Jurica Vucko (18 Tore), Marek Heinz (16 Tore), Marc Overmars (15 Tore).
Den ersten Triumph mit dem neuen Manager Joernie feierte der FC Porto dafür im Pokal. Der Klub gewann zum ersten Mal in der Vereinsgeschichte den Taca de Portugal mit einem 5:4 n.E. im Endspiel gegen AD Ovarense.
International schaffte es der FC Porto im Europacup bis in die 2. Runde. Nachdem Rayo Vallecano mit 5:4 und 5:3 aus dem Wettbewerb geworfen werden konnte, war der AC Ajaccio Endstation (2:1 und 0:3).
Auf dem Transfermarkt konnte der FC Porto in dieser Saison nicht auftreten. Zum einen musst Joernie die Schulden der vorhergehenden Manager abtragen und zum anderen flossen die noch freien Mittel in den Neuaufbau einer Amateurabteilung und einer Jugendabteilung.
