Karriere
Illias Triantafillou ist ein griechischer Mittelfeldspieler ohne reales Vorbild. Er hat BMO-Geschichte geschrieben, weil er nach dem Holländer Emile van Ruysseveldt erst der zweite Spieler ist, der die Stärke 11 erreicht hat. Zum heutigen Zeitpunkt (Saison 19) ist er 29 Jahre alt, so dass er noch einige Saisons auf höchstem fussballerischen Niveau vor sich haben sollte.
Er begann seine Karriere bei dem türkischen Verein Kocaelispor in Saison 8 oder in Saison 9, wo er vermutlich durch ein Scouting ins Spiel kam. Dort gelang ihm in mit dem Aufstieg in die erste türkische Liga sein erster Erfolg. In Saison 12 wechselte er dann zum KVC Waterlo in die BeNeLux-Liga, wo er sich zum echten Spielgestalter weiterentwickelte und in Saison 14 die Meisterschaft gewann. Seinen spielerischen Zenit fand er aber erst, als er in Saison 16 zu Chievo Verona wechselte und dort zum zweiten Elfer der BMO-Geschichte wurde. Davor spielte er noch eine Saison bei Espanyol Barcelona. Zu Beginn von Saison 18 wechselte er dann zum Ligakonkurrenten AS Rom, wo er seither Kapitän ist und große Erfolge feiert.
Natürlich spielt Triantafillou auch in der griechischen Nationalmannschaft die tragende Rolle. Er lief schon 22-mal für die selbige auf, die meisten Male als Kapitän.
