Thomas Butler ist ein irischer Mittelfeldspieler der Stärke 10. Sein reales Vorbild ist ebenfalls Mittelfeldspieler und derzeit bei Swansea City FC unter Vertrag.
Bei BMO begann Butler seine Karriere beim FC Chelsea und machte dort den Abstieg aus der Premier League mit. Zur Saison 10 wechselte Butler dann nach Portugal zum Traditionsverein FC Porto. Dort entwickelte er sich nach einer etwas längeren Anlaufzeit zu einer der Stützen im Mittelfeld, zuerst an der Seite von Sergio Conceicao und Benedikt Weidenfeller, nach deren Abgang dann sogar als Chef im Zentrum. Butler war zunächst mehr defensiv ausgerichtet, überzeugte aber vor allem durch seine Zuverlässigkeit und seinen unermüdlichen Einsatz als Antreiber und Organisator. Später wurde er aber auch noch torgefährlicher, vor allem in den Saisons 17 bis 19.
