Die Airtricity Premier League ist die höchste Spielklasse im irische Fußball und seit der Saison 12 in das BMO-Universum integriert. Bis zum Ende der Saison 29 hieß die Airtricity Premier League Ericom Premier League.
Bis zur Saison 23 bestand die Ericom Premier League aus 18 Vereinen, ab der Saison 24 waren es 20 Klubs. Aufgrund verschiedener Reformen wurde die Liga ab Saison 37 wieder auf 18 Klubs verkleinert.
Jeder Verein der Liga tritt in Hin- und Rückspielen gegen jeden anderen Verein der 1. Liga an. Die Mannschaft mit den meisten Punkten aus allen Spielen wird irischer Meister, bei Punktgleichheit entscheidet das Torverhältnis. Ist auch dieses gleich, wird der Verein mit den mehr erzielten Toren Meister.
Aus der Airtricity Premier League steigen die letzten drei Mannschaften in die Airtricity First League, die zweithöchste Spielklasse ab.
Saison 12 bis 19: Die Anfänge – Derry City erster Rekordmeister
Nachdem sich der Bundesligamanager Online mehr und mehr etablierte, stieß nach den „großen“ Ligenverbänden wie England, Italien, Spanien und Frankreich schließlich auch „Irland“ in Saison 12 als bis heute jüngste Liga zum BMO dazu. Zwar handelt es sich bei diesem Verband ebenso wie bei Osteuropa (OEU), Skandinavien (SKA), Benelux (BEN), den Alpen (ALP) oder Südosteuropa (SOE) um eine Mischliga der realen Football Association of Ireland (FAI) und der Irish Football Association (IFA), hat aufgrund der engen räumlichen und kulturellen Verbundenheit beider Verbände jedoch eine gewisse Sonderstellung inne und wirkt in sich geschlossen.
Die Gründungsmitglieder der zu Beginn nur 10 Teams zählenden ersten Liga waren die irischen Vereine Cork City FC, Bohemians FC, Drogheda United, Shamrock Rovers, St. Patrick`s Athletic und Shelbourne FC, welche um die nordirischen Mannschaften Linfield FC, Derry City, Portadown FC und Glentoran FC ergänzt wurden. Bereits in der zweiten Saison wurde die Liga auf 18 Teams vergrößert.
Erster Meister Irlands wurde in Saison 12 Derry City mit Manager Pastore. Ein Erfolg, den der Manager auch in Saison 13 und 14 wiederholen sollte, wofür er auch drei Mal in Folge den Titel Manager der Saison erhielt. Unterbrochen wurde diese Serie erst in Saison 15 von den Bohemians (Manager Beach Tiger). In Saison 16 und 18 holte Drogheda United den Titel, die mit Manager Captain in Saison 16 und 17 auch Pokalsieger wurden. Dies sollte die bisher erfolgreichste Ära für die „Droghs“ bleiben.
In den Spielzeiten 17 und 19 feierte schließlich der spätere Rekordmeister Linfield FC seine ersten Titel. In Saison 17 hieß der Manager Raid, beim zweiten Titel saß erneut Der General auf der Tribüne, der das Team bereits von Saison 12 bis 14 betreute.
