Spielmodus
Gespielt wird im KO-System in fünf Runden: Vorrunde - Achtelfinale - Viertelfinale - Halbfinale - Finale. Der Sieger wird jeweils in einem Spiel ermittelt, das ggf. verlängert wird. Fällt auch in der Verlängerung keine Entscheidung, folgt ein Elfmeterschießen.
Das Finale findet traditionell im Estádio Nacional do Jamor, dem Nationalstadion Portugals, in Oeiras statt.
Das Torkonto enthält zu Beginn des Wettbewerbs bei Erstligisten sechs, bei Zweitligisten fünf und bei allen anderen Mannschaften vier Tore. Nach dem Viertelfinale wird es um vier Tore aufgestockt.
