The Celtic Football Club kurz: Celtic FC, im deutschsprachigen Raum vor allem als Celtic Glasgow bezeichnet, ist ein schottischer Fußballverein. Der Club, der 1887 gegründet worden ist, hat den offiziellen Spitznamen „The Bhoys“, seine Mannschaft trägt ihre Heimspiele in grün-weiß quergestreiften Trikots (emerald green & white hoops) im Celtic Park (Übername: Paradise) im Stadtteil Bridgeton/Parkhead aus. Der Verein dominiert – bis 2012 zusammen mit dem Lokalrivalen Glasgow Rangers – seit mittlerweile mehr als einem Jahrhundert den schottischen Fußball.
Glasgow (Scots: Glesga, schottisch-gälisch: Glaschu, amtlich City of Glasgow) ist mit etwa 600.000 Einwohnern die größte Stadt Schottlands und nach London und Birmingham die drittgrößte Stadt des Vereinigten Königreichs. Die Stadt bildet eine der 32 Council Areas in Schottland und liegt am Fluss Clyde. Im späten 19. und frühen 20. Jahrhundert hatte Glasgow mehr als eine Million Einwohner. 2017 lebten in der Greater Glasgow and Clyde Area 1.169.110 Einwohner. Glasgow gilt im Gegensatz zur schottischen Hauptstadt Edinburgh als „Arbeiterstadt“. In Glasgow gibt es eine Kathedrale aus dem 12. Jahrhundert und vier Universitäten sowie die Glasgow School of Art und das Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (ehemals Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama.

Geschichte beim BMO
Gründerjahre (Saison 8-15)
In der ersten Zeit Celtics beim BMO wurde der Verein von einigen Managerlegenden geleitet: Victorolosaurus, Il pi, Jenen und Tobias.o hießen die Verantwortlichen der ersten Jahre. Umso bemerkenswerter ist es, dass in diese Zeit mit dem Double in Saison 9 lediglich zwei Titel fallen. Die ersten Saisons sind geprägt von einer Rivalität mit den je zweifachen Meistern Glasgow Rangers und FC Aberdeen sowie dem dreifachen Champion FC Forfar Athletic.
The Golden Bhoys (16-26)
Die bislang erfolgreichste Ära von Celtic ist mit zwei Managern verbunden: Hardkore und Rothi. Hardkore leitete das Team von Saison 16-21 und konnte nach einer kurzen Phase der Konsolidierung einen Pokalsieg (S17) sowie zwei Meistertitel (S19 und 20) feiern. Rothi übernahm das erstarkte Team und konnte in Saison 22 und konnte in nur fünf Spielzeiten sechs Titel gewinnen: vier Meisterschaften (viermal in Folge von S23-26) und zwei Pokaltrophäen (S23 und 24). International konnten die beiden Manager zwar in der Gruppenphase der Europa-Liga gut mithalten. In der K.O.-Runde war jedoch spätestens im Viertelfinale Schluss. National wurde Celtic in dieser Ära zum absoluten Top-Team.
Der Weg in die Katastrophe (27-36)
Die schwere Nachfolge dieser beiden Manager trat in Saison 27 Xitzi an, der mit dem Pokalsieg in seiner Premieren-Saison zunächst an die Erfolge anknüpfen konnte. Es folgten gute Leistungen in der Liga, die zweimal zur Vizemeisterschaft führten (S28 und 32), weitere Titel konnte Celtic in der Folgezeit aber nicht mehr einfahren. International scheiterte Celtic am Losglück bzw. jeweils in Runde ein gegen starke Mannschaften (Leeds United, Aston Villa, Turku PS sowie Bremen). Nach Xitzis Wechsel zu Dortmund übernahm Oli Muller die Mannschaft. Doch auch er konnte Celtic nicht zum Ruhm vergangener Tage zurückführen. Mit einem teuren, am internationalen Geschäft ausgerichteten Kader, rutschte Celtic zunächst ins Mittelfeld ab und stieg in Saison 36 mit großem FTCP-Pech erstmals in der Vereinsgeschichte ab.
Aufbruch und Umbruch (Saison 37-)
Kurz vor Ende der Saison 36 verkündete Manager Oli Muller seinen kurzfristigen Wechsel nach Bielefeld. Als Nachfolger wurde David Bronstein vom schwedischen Team Djurgarden Stockholm verpflichtet. Unter ihm gelang ein massiver Umbruch, bei dem fünfzehn Spieler ab Stärke 8 den Verein verließen und im Gegenzug nur vier Neue für die Stammelf kamen. Die Neuausrichtung war erfolgreich und führte zum sofortigen Wiederaufstieg sowie dem überraschenden Einzug ins nationale Pokalfinale. Die Rückkehr in die First League in S38 endete triumphal mit der ersten Meisterschaft nach zwölf Jahren.
