In Saison 4 kam dann die Quittung für den schnellen Aufstieg. Einige Ligenleiter und als Konsequenz daraus auch der Spielleiter traten zurück. Zwei Fühungswechsel, ein Serverumzug und die Schliessung von allen in Saison 3 und 4 aufgebauten Ligen. Der Managerbestand schrumpfte auf weniger als die Hälfte zusammen, nur noch die erbittertsten Fans standen noch da um den Scherbenhaufen wieder auf zu bauen. Der wurde dann mit Italien, England, Frankreich, Deutschland Liga 1 und 2 und der schweizer Liga, die sich zum ersten Mal von den Nachbarn getrennt hatten angestrebt. Rainer Unsinn wurde neuer Spielleiter, der seinen eigenen Server mit Domain www.spielberater.de zur Verfügung stellte. Der BMO wäre damals wohl komplett von der Bildfläche verschwunden, wenn sich nicht jemand verantwortlich gefühlt hätte.
Wie kam es zu diesem Niedergang? Innerhalb von 5 Wochen mussten 4 Ligenleiter ersetzt werden, nur teilweise mit Erfolg. Die fehlende Selbstständigkeit der Ligenleiter zu diesem Zeitpunkt war ein weiterer Faktor, den man nicht unterschätzen darf. Auch sollte man bedenken, dass weder Spielleiter noch Ligenleiter auf einen derartigen Erfolg vorbereitet waren. Fehler wurden gemacht. Kleinigkeiten übersehen. Die Gesamtsituation war alles andere als zufriedenstellend. Die 'Trainingslager-Affaire' und 'Der Fall Gathony' waren dann ausschlaggebend dafür die Konsequenzen aus dem Missmanagement zu ziehen und anderen das Ruder zu übergeben.
Zwei neue Ligenleiter feierten ihren Einstand mit hervorragender Leistung: Daniel Lehmbeck (bekannt als D-Lehm) und Michael Bartz (bekannt als SuperEagle). Die Chaossaison endete mit einem spektakulären Saisonfinale in der Schweiz, bei dem der Servette Genf die Nase vorne behielt. Weniger spektakulär Englands Meister: Manchester United.
